50 Cent has donated $100,000 (£69,000) to Autism Speaks as part of his apology to an airport janitor he mocked.
The rapper poked fun at 19-year-old Andrew Farrell in a social media video on Sunday (01May16), suggesting the teenager was high on drugs when he failed to respond to the In Da Club hitmaker while he was at Cincinnati/Northern Kentucky International Airport.
In the now-deleted clip, 50 said, "Look at him. What kind of s**t do you think he took before he got to work today? He high as a motherf**ker right here in the airport. Pupils dilated - the new generation is f**king crazy."
The young man's stepfather quickly pointed out the teen was autistic and suffered a hearing impairment, prompting 50 to apologise.
"It was certainly not my intent to insult him or the disability community (sic), which is a source of great strength in America," he wrote. "I have apologized personally to him and his family. While the incident at the airport resulted from an unfortunate misunderstanding, I am truly sorry for offending the young man."
Farrell's family accepted the apology but called on the rap star to donate $10,000 (£6,900) to the Autism Speaks charity.
50 Cent, real name Curtis Jackson, decided to pay big for his insensitivity, and he has since handed over $100,000, according to TMZ.
Making the generous donation, the 40-year-old said, "I am calling on my fellow musicians, actors, entertainers and all others who may not have fully considered this cause to join together to help in any way they can."
The news of his big money cheque emerges as 50 continues to work out his bankruptcy troubles, after declaring himself broke in a Connecticut court last summer (15).
