Drake has replaced 50 Cent as the fifth richest rapper in a new Forbes poll.

Publication editors annually rank the top-earning hip-hop superstars for The Forbes Five, and Drake has made his debut among the top flight for the first time in his career.

His net worth is estimated at $60 million (£41 million), thanks to his music and touring revenue, as well as endorsement deals with Nike, Apple and Sprite, placing him at five on the new survey.

However, Drake, who is signed to Lil Wayne's Young Money Entertainment label, still has way to go before he climbs further up the poll.

Sean 'Diddy' Combs reigns supreme at number one with a net worth of $750 million (£516 million), while Dr. Dre trails in second place with $710 million (£488 million).

Jay Z takes the third spot with $610 million (£420 million), and rap mogul Bryan 'Birdman' Williams, whose Cash Money Records is the parent company of Young Money, is fourth with $110 million (£76 million).

50 Cent, who had previously been a regular on the Forbes rich list, tumbled in the rankings after filing for bankruptcy last summer (15). In legal papers lodged in a Connecticut court in July (15), he claimed to owe a string of creditors over $30 million (£21 million).

The Forbes Five results will give Drake another reason to celebrate following the success of his latest album, Views.

The Canadian rapper marked the new release last week (29Apr16) by hosting a party at La Vie nightclub in his native Toronto, where he boasted about his huge first-day sales figures.

"I got a text message that we sold, like, 630,000 something records in one night," the thrilled 29-year-old said. "That's the first time I've ever done that s**t, so thank you very much!"
