Guns N’ Roses made their reunion official on Friday night with a warm-up concert at L.A.’s Troubadour.
For the first time since July 17, 1993, Axl Rose, Slash, Duff McKagan and Dizzy Reed shared the stage as Guns N’ Roses. Joining them were Richard Fortus, who has been with the band since 2001, Frank Ferrer, a member since 2006, and newcomer Melissa Reese.
The band played at least one song from each of their studio albums except G N’ R Lies but concentrated on their debut, Appetite For Destruction (1987) which accounted for eight of the seventeen songs performed. Outside of songs on the band’s studio album, they also covered Speak Softly Love (Theme From the Godfather), which had been a top forty hit for Andy Williams in 1972, and The Who’s The Seeker which the latest version of GNR had been performing in concert.
