If mid-week figures hold, it's going to be a big week for veteran artists in the U.K.
The biggest is James, whose new album, Girl at the End of the World, is sitting at the top of the Official Charts Company's Chart Update, knocking Adele out of number 1. As of Monday, James was 2,000 units ahead.
The band, whose debut album came out in 1984, has only be to the top once with the compilation The Best of James (1998). Their highest charting studio set was 1999's Millionaires which reached number 2 while their last album, 2014's Le Petite Mort, peaked at 11.
It was also announced today that James will be the opening band for Glastonbury 2016.
James isn't the only veteran artist with big debuts this week in the U.K. Iggy Pop's latest, Post Pop Depression, is sitting at number 3 mid-week which would give him, by far, the highest charting album of his career. The previous high was 1977's Lust For Life which went to 28.
The British electronic group Underworld are at number 4 with Barbara Barbara We Face a Shining Future which, potentially, could be the second highest charting album of their nine album/28 year career. The previously hit the top ten twice with Second Toughest of the Infants (1996 / #9) and Beaucoup Fish (1999 / #3).
Best of Bowie is currently projected to fall 4 to 9 while the new Gwen Stefani, This is What the Truth Feels Like, is currently 11 at mid-week.
The final numbers will be out on Friday.
