Perrie Edwards approves of Liam Payne's new relationship with Cheryl Fernandez-Versini.
The One Direction singer has shocked fans by striking up a romance with the former Girls Aloud star, who is 10 years his junior, and since their romance went public last month (Feb16) they have been spotted going on dates to a casino and a London restaurant.
Perrie, who was once engaged to Liam's ex-bandmate Zayn Malik, is good friends with Cheryl and has no issue with the relationship as long as her pal is "happy" following her recent split from husband Jean-Bernard Fernandez-Versini.
“Cheryl is a good friend of mine,” the singer told Britain's Daily Mirror newspaper. “She wants to do whatever makes her happy... I’m happy for her, whatever makes her happy I think is fine.”
Her opinion on their romance differs greatly from Liam's ex-girlfriend Sophia Smith, who said the relationship was "so weird". She told Britain's Now magazine, “I knew about them a little while ago, but who thought it would actually come out? I didn’t.”
Liam dated Sophia on-and-off between 2013 and 2015, and said he was "absolutely devastated" they could not make it work due to long distance.
According Britain's The Sun newspaper, Liam and Cheryl have been dating since December (15). Liam gushed about his new partner on Instagram to mark International Women's Day on 8 March (16). He wrote, "Happy #internationalwomensday to my favourite woman in the world... hope I make you as happy as u make me X (sic)".
Cheryl married Jean-Bernard in July 2014 after a whirlwind romance. She is reportedly in the process of getting divorce. She has not directly commented on reports about her marriage or new relationship.
