Parents-to-be Chrissy Teigen and John Legend celebrated the impending birth of their first child on Sunday (06Mar16).

The supermodel and All of Me singer are preparing to welcome a little girl, and their friends and family feted the couple with a party fit for a little princess.

All the guests at the New York City luncheon donned paper crowns, with the pregnant Chrissy wearing a bedazzled tiara with "Baby Mama" on the front, while John wore a corresponding one with "Baby Daddy" emblazoned on it.

Chrissy took to Instagram.com to share snaps from the bash, including a photo of a plate of customised cookies in the shape of white and pink onesies, baby bottles, prams, and pink crowns. The mum-to-be added the caption, "Luckiest girls around."

The Sports Illustrated Swimsuit beauty recently sparked controversy after revealing they chose to have a daughter when they were offered the chance to pick the sex of their first child during their in vitro fertilisation process.

Chrissy initially said she wanted to give her husband a little girl because he "deserves" the close bond daughters typically share with their dads, but later admitted she didn't expect such a backlash when talking about the gender decision publicly.

"I think I didn't realise this is so not really talked about," she recently told U.S. breakfast show Good Morning America. "In my world it is, because everyone I know is going through this (IVF), so I said it so casually that I didn't anticipate all the people whod never heard such a thing before."

The 30-year-old has no regrets about her comments and insists she's happy to have inspired more open discussion about such scientific advances.

"It's interesting to spark conversation, get people talking about it," Chrissy said. "We're happy with our decision and we're proud of it. We're glad that we're living in a time that we can do such a thing, but yeah, it's weird, we definitely didn't anticipate any kind of backlash from it."
