Yoko Ono has not suffered a stroke, despite recent reports.
The widow of John Lennon was admitted to Mount Sinai Roosevelt Hospital in New York with “extreme” flu-like symptoms, clarifies her publicist Elliot Mintz. He told People.com that the artist and activist shouldn’t be in the facility for too long.
"It was never ever a stroke," he says. "She was suffering extreme flu-like symptoms. Her doctor thought it would be a good idea to go to a local hospital to be checked out.
"She went to hospital. She is being checked out. The information that she has been given is that in all likelihood she will be out tomorrow (Saturday)."
The 83-year-old is currently being treated in the same place that her legendary former Beatles star John was taken after he was fatally shot in 1980.
Yoko and John's's son, Sean Lennon, also cleared up rumours his mother had suffered a stroke. He took to Twitter.com on Friday to reassure fans Yoko was on the mend.
"Hey guys it was only rumors (sic) from press: was NOT a stroke, just dehydration/tired. She is FINE. Thank you everyone for your concern," he tweeted.
Yoko's recently appeared at the 2016 NME Awards (17Feb16) in London, where she was presented with the NME Inspiration Award. She said of the honour, "I'm excited to get this award. I didn't expect it at all."
