Miguel is leaving the planning of his wedding entirely up to his fiancee.

The 30-year-old singer popped the question to longtime girlfriend Nazanin Mandi last month (Jan16), after 12 years of dating. While he is more than a little excited about the nuptials, Miguel insists he's not getting involved in organising the big day.

"I'm not getting involved in wedding plans - I'm going to leave that all to her," he said during an interview on The Late Late Show with James Corden on Wednesday night (24Feb16). "I think it's really a woman's thing... I know that she's been wanting to be married and she had this idea of what it's supposed to be and I don't want to taint that, I don't want to mess it up, because that's all we do pretty much is mess up our women's dreams. So I'm not going to start off on the wrong foot."

Despite the fact that Miguel will soon marry the woman of his dreams, he was always awkward with the opposite sex during his high school days. He recalled one incident in which he was trying to build up the courage to approach a girl he liked at a party.

"I remember one of the only parties I was at in high school, and I was literally just watching this girl the entire time - really awkwardly, not even in a cool way," he laughed. "And I finally had a moment to go talk to her and I'm standing there with a drink like, 'Ok, I'm going to go and do it', and as soon as I take a step the cup slips right through my hand and it just busts all over me. And I'm like, 'Ok, time to go!' "

Miguel is now one of the hottest young stars in the music industry, and has collaborated with singers including Beyonce, Mariah Carey, and Lorde in the past.

He added during the interview that he can now use the party incident as inspiration for songs when he's writing for a female artist.

"The cool thing is that I get to be the cool guy at the party, and just imagine myself in that exact same place and I didn't drop the glass and then imagine what I wanted her to say to me instead," he explained. "So I just go back to that place all the time!"
