Singer and actor Nick Jonas inadvertently prepared for his latest film during his time in The Jonas Brothers.
The 23-year-old first found fame as one third of the hit teen band with his siblings Joe and Kevin, and he admits his time on the road prepped him for his part in Goat.
"Any time you grow up with siblings close in age, as we were, there's that sense of fraternity life as such," he explained at the Berlin Film Festival, according to The Hollywood Reporter. "Plus we worked together for so long and spent a lot of time of impressionable lives together (sic). There's definitely a training ground there."
In Goat, Nick plays a frat member whose brother undergoes a hazing ritual - a form of humiliation and harassment as part of an initiation process.
As well as drawing on his time with his brothers, Nick also visited a college bar in Ohio to carry on his research, but it turned out to be a fruitless exercise.
"I went out to a college bar and had a really unique experience that I can't really remember, but I know I didn't do anything too stupid," he laughed. "I just had too may shots of tequila, which became a good training ground for the movie as well, I think."
Ben Schnetzer plays Nick's brother in the movie, which is directed by Andrew Neel, and the singer admits they had little time to form a brotherly bond.
"He's not only an amazing actor, obviously, but he has a really great heart, and he's someone I immediately connected with," Nick added. "We had a limited amount of time to build our chemistry, so that's important. Some were good days and some were bad days, and it was all to set up the making of this film. It was great, one of the best experiences of my life."
