Phil Collins would be "fine" with working with Adele in the future.
The singer and drummer hit headlines when it was revealed his collaboration with Adele for her album 25 had fallen through. While there have been reports since of a rift between the pair, Phil insists there's no bad blood and he would definitely consider working with her on another project in the future.
"We met in London at her request, and she played me a piece of music," he told Consequences of Sound. "I liked it, and she said, 'Well, finish it please.' I took it back to New York and started to work on it. Then she became a little bit difficult to get a hold of, and she said to me later, 'I’m in a different place'.
"I don’t think she chickened out because it was me. I think she chickened out because she had kind of wound the thing up before she was ready to go. She wasn’t ready to do the record, but that piece of music still exists, and someone suggested to me that it could happen in the future. I hadn’t really thought of it, but if she wants to work together in the future, I’m fine with it.
She’s great. I think she’s one of the most important artists in recent years. She is such a strong person, and her musical identity is so strong. She’s there for good, you know?"
Adele's 25 has since gone on to break a host of records, including Most Records Sold in a Single Week after shifting an incredible 3.38 million copies sold in the U.S. in the first week of being on sale.
Phil, meanwhile, is in the middle of a reissue campaign, with reissues of all eight of his solo records soon to hit the shelves.
There have also been reports that he will be heading out on tour in the near future but the 65-year-old, who is recovering from two fractures on his right foot, set the record straight on these rumours.
"This thing is accelerating a little bit quicker than I would like it to," he admitted. "I have said that I would like to do a few shows, and now people are saying, “You’re going back out on tour,” but I’m not going to go back out on tour.
"I like the rhythm of my life. It’s very important to me at this moment of my life to be with my kids. I do not want to go back out on the road. I think doing some shows would be fun. I know I’m going to be doing that once the foot is better."
