Plans are underway to rename a stretch of road in Detroit as Glenn Frey Drive.

According to Detroit radio station WCSX “After talking with the City of Royal Oak and the Royal Oak School Board, we found a stretch of Willis Ave that can be renamed Glenn Frey Drive. It’ll go up for a vote with the board on Thursday, Feb. 11th and we want to make sure it passes by showing them support from all over Detroit (and beyond)”.

Eagles guitarist Joe Walsh says the idea would be a “great idea and tribute”.

Frey was born in Detroit on November 6, 1948.

The Eagles founder and lead singer died on January 18, 2016 at age 67 after complications from rheumatoid arthritis, acute ulcerative colitis, and pneumonia, while recovering from gastrointestinal tract surgery.
