Zayn Malik was on the Capital London Breakfast Show with Dave Berry tomorrow. He talked about feuding with former bandmate Louis Tomlinson, not beening invited to visit baby Freddie, Justin Bieber collaboration and his new tattoo.
On feuding with Louis Tomlinson and favouriting the picture of his newborn on Twitter
DB: You favourited (on Twitter) the picture of Louis and his baby Freddie. I tried to do that with a friend recently and apparently I’ve got to make more of an effort, and go round there with a present for the baby. Are you planning on making more of an effort or will you just leave it with a (Twitter) favourite?
ZM: We’ll see if I get an invite. Obviously I wish him the best of luck. His kid is cute as f**k so obviously I favourited it. We’re not talking on friend terms obviously, so that’s as far as I can go, by favouriting his picture.
On living life as a 22 year old…
DB: You were planning on living the life of a normal 22-year-old. I was wondering from a personal point of view how you thought that went as an adventure?
ZM: It worked out for about 2 weeks and I got bored of it. I don’t think I could ever go back to being completely normal. I guess that’s something I accepted, that this is as normal as it gets for me. I just want to make music that I believe in and music that I stand for.
On collaborating with Justin Bieber…
DB: What do you think about any potential [collaborations] with Justin Bieber ahead of launching [your] solo career.
ZM: It’s not something I’d say no to. I might think about it at some point, I’m not really trying to do that on this record, its not something I’m trying to sway towards. I’m just trying to put my sounds out there and let people see that. I don’t just want to start featuring on everyone else’s tracks.
On his tattoo collection…
DB: What’s your most recent tattoo?
ZM: I just got a tattoo on my leg and my arm, I did them both in the same session. I got a tattoo for the album: the name of the album, and something on my leg, it’s kind of weird, its an outline of a dude smoking which is pretty mega.
DB: What does the tattoo say, the one of name of the album.
ZM: You’ll have to wait for that one.
