Kevin Hart dubs himself a hero after saving Lady Gaga from a fall that could have been "brutal".

The 36-year-old actor attended the 2016 Golden Globes on Sunday (10Jan16), where Gaga picked up the Best Actress in a Limited TV Series or TV Motion Picture award for American Horror Story: Hotel.

She may have looked the epitome of elegance, but Kevin has revealed the night could have gone very differently if he hadn't been around.

The near fall came after Gaga brushed Leonardo DiCaprios arm out of the way as she strutted to the stage to collect the award. Leonardos unimpressed reaction was caught on camera and has since gone viral online.

"What people don't know is after she got the award she was walking off (and) she fell," Kevin told talk show host Ellen DeGeneres. "I had to catch her. And when I caught her I said, 'I just want you to realise how big my arms are... It could have been bad. It could have been really bad for you, but I saved your life.'

"I didn't let her go down that far because I'm a hero. The thing is, like, she was on her way down. It could have been brutal, you know? We're talking blood, broken bones."

Luckily his "inner hero" took over as he leaped past a camera to catch her. Turning on the charm, Kevin hinted that Gaga was blown away by the brave move.

"I was like, 'I'm engaged!'" the funnyman quipped. "True story. That happened."

The Get Hard star is set to marry Eniko Parrish, who he proposed to in August 2014. Nearly 18 months later the couple have finally set a date for the wedding, with Kevin confirming they're to tie the knot on 8 August 2016. He also had a message for any female fans who are sad that he's no longer a single man.

"That's right, ladies. Putting the chocolate in the fridge. I'm putting these chocolate nuggets up in the freezer ladies. It's over. It's over!" he exclaimed, before thinking about what he just said. "You know what's bad? I didn't realise what it could mean. So, after I said it I was like, 'Oh, wait! No, no, no! I didn't want it to be that.' I'm not gonna take it back, though. Regardless, they're locked up. They're in the fridge."
