Beyoncé is apparently such a huge fan of Coldplay she couldn't turn down the chance to perform with the group at the Super Bowl.

On Thursday (07Jan16) it was confirmed that the superstar singer will be teaming up with the British rock band at the American football event at Levi's Stadium in Santa Clara, California, on 7 February (16). This will mark her third appearance on the coveted stage, following her performance of the US national anthem in 2004 and her storming set in 2013.

"Performing in the past at the Super Bowl was one of her favourite performances," a source told E! News. "She loved the energy of the crowd. She is a big fan of Coldplay and thinks it's going to be a fantastic performance by both of them."

In 2013, Beyoncé performed some of her biggest tracks including Single Ladies (Put a Ring on It), Crazy in Love, Run the World (Girls), and Halo. She also delighted the crowd when her former Destiny's Child bandmates Kelly Rowland and Michelle Williams joined her for Bootylicious and Independent Women Part I.

The shape of her performance with Coldplay isn't know at the moment, but the group's frontman Chris Martin is good friends with Beyoncé and her husband Jay Z. She also appeared on the band's recent record A Head Full of Dreams.

"Beyoncé has been in the talks to perform for some time but it was all top secret," a source added. "Beyoncé is very excited to be at this year's big Super Bowl. She can't wait."

The star has known Chris for over a decade, as she is close to his ex-wife Gwyneth Paltrow. Following the birth of Beyoncé and Jay Z's now four-year-old daughter Blue Ivy, the star admitted she'd turned to mother-of-two Gwyneth for parenting tips.

"She is incredible, she's a great friend on every level," Beyoncé said. "I think for us, protecting our daughters is so important and… keeping things on our own terms, so I will still be protective and make sure (Blue Ivy) has a childhood and a great time."
