Guns N' Roses frontman Axl Rose has confirmed the rockers are headlining Coachella festival 2016.

The band rose to fame in the late '80s and their biggest hits are still considered anthems, with fans looking forward to hearing classics like Sweet Child O' Mine and November Rain when they party in the Californian desert in April (16).

Axl and guitarist Slash famously fell out, which led to the breakdown of the original line up, but it seems the two men have buried the hatchet and will once again perform together.

"Ok,ok... it's "confirmed!" Guns N' Roses is Headlining Coachella 2016!! See Everyone There!!" Axl tweeted, adding champagne popping, heart and microphone emojis to the post.

Original bassist Duff McKagan is also thought to be performing, and there are rumours Guns N' Roses will also embark on a 25-stadium North American tour.

Fans were over the moon with Axl's post, with one exclaiming: "@axlrose IM SO F**KING HAPPY I HOPE YOU ARE TOO".

"@axlrose You're going to knock their socks off! Take it outta the park!!" another wrote.

The 53-year-old singer had teased fans with the news on Thursday (31Dec15) telling followers: "The only thing I know "confirmed" is my LOVE of Taco Bell! Mmmmm.... Taco Bell!! Happy New Years!!"

Calvin Harris will also be headlining, as will LCD Soundsystem. Calvin's already in the festival mood, retweeting the official line-up posted on Coachella's Twitter page.

Other acts for the double-weekend festival include Sia, Ellie Goulding, Ice Cube and The Kills.

Coachella 2016 takes place across two weekends, on April 15-17 and April 22-24.
