Singer Bobby Brown is publishing a memoir in the wake of the tragic deaths of his ex-wife Whitney Houston and their daughter Bobbi Kristina.
Bobby and Whitney divorced in 2007 and in 2012, aged 48, she was found unconscious in her bathtub. She died shortly after, with the cause of death ruled accidental drowning due to intoxication. In January (15) their then-21-year-old daughter, Bobbi Kristina, was also found unconscious in her bathtub. She died in July (15) aged 22.
Now Bobby, 46, is putting his heartbreak into words in the form of a memoir titled My Prerogative, which is scheduled for release in June 2016.
"Right after I signed on to write my story, I went through one of the most agonising traumas I had ever experienced with the death of my daughter," he said in a statement to Associated Press.
"But I was surprised by how therapeutic it was to work on this project, to look at the entire arc of my life and to realise that although there has been considerable pain, I have also been incredibly blessed.
"I hope my fans and other readers of this book will be entertained by this trip into the crazy, exciting, fascinating world of Bobby Brown. And I hope they will feel that I have been as honest and open with them in these pages as I have tried to be my entire life."
Publishers insist the book will be as "raw" as possible and divulge details from his relationship with Whitney.
"My Prerogative is the story of a man who has been on the top of the mountain and in the depths of the valley and who is now finally ready to talk about his career and family life, from the passion and the excess to his creative inspirations and massive musical success," the statement continued.
The cause of Bobbi Kristina's death is still being investigated and her boyfriend Nick Gordon, who was taken in by Whitney and raised as her brother, has been named in a civil and a criminal lawsuit related to the tragedy.
