Nickleback have scrapped the rest of their North American tour.
The Canadian rock band have been forced to cancel their remaining No Fixed Address tour dates in the continent due to frontman Chad Kroeger’s scheduled surgery on a cyst on his voice box.
The news comes after the group cancelled scheduled shows over the weekend.
“I am sorry I have to interrupt the party this summer, and I am definitely not thrilled with the prospect of being silent for many weeks to come when I could be out there playing for our fans,” Chad, 40, said in a statement.
Up until the surgery, set to take place in three weeks’ time, Chad has been ordered to maintain vocal rest and stay completely silent. According to reports, the surgery is relatively simple and Chad’s medical team are said to expect him to make a full recovery in time to continue with the European leg of the band’s tour, which kicks off in Finland on September 30.
It has been a difficult few months for Chad.
Earlier this year, his wife Avril Lavigne came forward to reveal her battle with the debilitating illness Lyme disease.
Avril had been left bedridden by the condition and sparked concern among her fans due to not being seen in public for five months.
But during an interview on Australian radio back in April, Chad said that Avril’s decision to make her condition public had come as something of a relief to them both.
“I'm like OK the wife has come out and said this and now I don't have to keep hiding... with everyone going ‘What's wrong with your wife, what's wrong with your wife’ and me just going, ‘ah she's gonna be fine’,” Chad told KIIS FM's Australian radio show Kyle & Jackie O.
