Billie Joe Armstrong of Green Day is flexing his acting muscles twice this year, first with Frank Whaley's Like Sunday, Like Rain and, later in the year in Geezer.
In Like Sunday, Like Rain, Armstrong's character is described as a "troubled boyfriend". The film also stars Leighton Meester, Debra Messing and newcomer Julian Shatkin and has been playing around the festival circuit including the Williamsburg Independent Film Festival where Shatkin won Best Breakout Performance, Whaley won Best Director and Messing won the Best Featured Actress Award. The film will be released to theaters on March 13 and video-on-demand on April 21.
For Geezer, Armstrong plays a 40-year-old ex-musician, husband and father who is dealing with his life. The film also stars Judy Greer, Selma Blair and Fred Armisen.
