Michelle Williams says there’s “no truth” in the speculation that Beyoncé is pregnant.

The Halo singer set the media alight with rumours that she was expecting her second child after posting a picture of herself buried in the sand with what appeared to be an oversized belly at the weekend. But her former bandmate has jumped to her defence and set the record straight.

“You know, when she was pregnant people said that she wasn't pregnant and you know, it's just no truth to it," she said during an appearance on The View on Monday. "Sorry!"

Beyoncé shared the photograph on Instagram after a fun day at the beach with her three-year-old daughter Blue Ivy. She added fuel to the fire by choosing not to add a caption to the image.

But Michelle had logic to back up her claims that her friend isn’t expecting.

"First of all, first of all, if you look at the picture, the baby bump is like where her knees probably really are so that's really ... you know," she laughed.

It isn’t the first time that the 33-year-old, who is married to fellow musician Jay Z, has had to deny such claims.

In June last year, her rep contacted CBS This Morning to squash the reports of baby number two.

“The singer is ‘absolutely positively not pregnant at this time,'" host Gayle King announced. "It's a crazy rumour that started that they can't seem to stop ... they wanted us to know she's not pregnant."

The Drunk in Love singer confirmed her pregnancy with Blue Ivy during a performance at the 2011 VMA’s.
