Common and John Legend win Golden Globe for Glory

Common and John Legend gave won the Golden Globe for Best Original Song for ‘Glory’ from the movie Selma.

‘Selma’ is the story of Martin Luther King Jr and his struggle to secure the vote for all people.

Common starred in the movie as James Bevel alongside David Oyelowo as Martin Luther King Jr and Tom Wilkinson as Lyndon B. Johnson.

Legend and Common beat Lorde’s ‘Yellow Flicker Beat’ from ‘The Hunger Games: Mockingjay Part 1’, Patti Smith ‘Mercy Is’ from ‘Noah’, Lana Del Rey ‘Big Eyes’ from ‘Big Eyes’ and Sia ‘Opportunity’ from ‘Annie.

The winner of Best original score (motion picture) went to Jóhann Jóhannsson for ‘The Theory of Everything’.
