Barbra Streisand has commented on the passing of Joan Rivers.

The 81-year-old comedienne died on Thursday after being hospitalised last week following a cardiac arrest during an operation.

Barbra Streisand told AlternativeNation.net “I first met Joan Molinsky, that was her real name, when I was 17 years old and we were both in a off off Broadway show called ‘Driftwood.’ She was a real character then and now.. I am so upset by her passing. She was too young and had too much to do still.”

Joan received treatment at Mount Sinai Hospital and the star was in critical condition when she first reached the medical centre. The comedy icon was then put on life support and the New York Daily News reported doctors were attempting to life her from a medically induced coma earlier this week.
