Ariana Grande's go-to club move includes a lot of "hair flipping".
The 21-year-old star pulls on some impressive moves in the video for her track Problem, which also features Iggy Azalea. There was "lots of hair involved" on set, but that's nothing new when it comes to Ariana strutting her stuff.
"It’s hard to describe it. There’s a lot of strutting to the beat. There’s a lot of sitting down and leg-kicking and voguing and posing and hair flipping involved," she told time.com when asked about the moves she rocks in clubs.
Ariana rose to fame after appearing on Broadway in her teens and starring as Cat Valentine in Nickelodeon shows Victorious and Sam & Cat. Moving away from the children's TV character has proved a challenge for the star, but she hopes the release of her second album My Everything will help with that. It includes the track Break Free which is about ditching negativities which were holding the star back and learning not to let ego and fear distract her.
This doesn't mean Ariana is too grown up for her age though, like many others in her generation she is a big fan of social media.
"There’s a brunette, severed head with the driest expression of all time on her face, and I really like that one," she explained, when asked about her favourite emoji. "I feel like I relate to it. After that, I put the thinking bubble emoji followed by the boy emoji so it’s girl-thinking-of-boy. I really like that combination. There’s a navy blue square with stars in it, and it’s supposed to look like the universe. I really like that one as well."
Still on the topic of age, Ariana rubbished suggestions she is too young to really know what the '90s were like - her music has been likened to tunes from the decade. She was born in 1993 but insists she still remembers a lot from the time.
"Of course I do! I wasn’t dead!" she laughed.
"No, I remember so much. That was such a vivid time. I was obsessed with Missy Elliott, TLC and Eminem. Everything was so great. Nickelodeon had the best shows and the toys were dope and at PE time we had all the right things. I was a ‘90s kid, but I was alive, I remember things. Cartoons were great, music was great, the trends were mortifying."
