Ariana Grande fumbled over questions about her relationship with Big Sean Tuesday.

The musicians have collaborated on songs including Best Mistake, Right There and Problem, and rumours the pair have become romantic recently hit a fever pitch when they were caught holding hands by backstage cameras at Sunday night’s MTV VMAs.

But the 21-year-old The Way hitmaker shied away from addressing whether their relationship has become more than platonic when quizzed by Ryan Seacrest on his US radio show.

“I mean, I guess, curiosity man, it’ll kill you,” Ariana blushed. “I don’t know what to say, Ryan. Why are you doing this me?” she demanded.

The singer admitted she isn’t opposed to discussing her relationship with Sean entirely. She simply refused to share details about her personal life with eager listeners.

“I’ll tell you. I’ll tell you when we’re not on the air. I trust you,” she told the radio host. “I’ve known you a long time. I don’t know about these millions of people listening in right now.”

The comments follow just days after Ariana was forced to clarify comments she made about her ex cheating, after she told Attitude magazine a former boyfriend had been unfaithful with another man.

The star later insisted her words had been “twisted”, however.

"People took my quote and made a headline about it - I know what y'all do," she told Entertainment Tonight. "They twisted it though... I never said my ex. It wasn't even an ex really, we were sort of dating for a minute. It wasn't a big deal."
