Benji Madden felt "rock 'n' roll" when he got a tattoo on his throat in Las Vegas.

The 35-year-old rocker and his twin brother Joel founded the pop punk band Good Charlotte in 1996, and the siblings have now ventured into a new realm with their project The Madden Brothers. Both men are heavily covered in ink, and Benji has some fond memories behind a few of his designs.

"Some of my best memories are late-night tattoo sessions with Grant and all of our friends. I still smile when I look at the coffin inside my left middle finger. All the Good Charlotte guys and the Avenged Sevenfold guys got them together in a hotel room late one night on tour," he recalled to inkedmag.com

"It’s a great memory to have. I also remember getting my throat tattoo by Franco Vescovi in a hotel room in Vegas, that was funny. Why did I feel the need to tattoo my throat in a hotel room in Vegas? Rock ‘n’ roll I guess!"

Joel - who is a father to son Sparrow and daughter Harlow with wife Nicole Richie - admits he used to have a wild streak during the early stages of fame. He doesn't regret any of his antics though.

"Our late teens all the way through our 20s were spent that way [being on tour and getting inked]! I wouldn’t change a thing about the crazy shit we did back then, but I wouldn’t go back either!"

The brothers gave their first TV performance of new track We Are Done on Jimmy Fallon's show earlier this week. They were greeted with a big applause, and both of them took to Twitter to share how excited they were ahead of the gig.

"We are playing #wearedone on @FallonTonight tune in (sic)," Joel wrote.

Fans were also quick to congratulate them, with user @catwmn writing: " @JoelMadden @benjaminmadden you guys were amazing on @jimmyfallon @FallonTonight! Song of the year! (sic)"
