Ariana Grande has clarified the comments she made about her ex cheating with another guy.

The 21-year-old singer hit headlines earlier this month when she told Attitude magazine that a former boyfriend had been unfaithful with another man.

But now Ariana has insisted her quote was “twisted” and about someone she only dated for a brief period.

"People took my quote and made a headline about it - I know what y'all do," she told Entertainment Tonight. "They twisted it though ... I never said my ex. It wasn't even an ex really, we were sort of dating for a minute. It wasn't a big deal."

However, Ariana did continue to say that she believes it is easier to deal with when you’re cheated on with a boy rather than a girl.

"It was kind of funny. I wasn't like, heartbroken over it. I was like, 'Ok, work,'" she said. "I think it's less offensive. I think it's great. I'd be like, 'Great for you.'

“But if it was a girl I'd be like, 'Ok that kind of sucks,' you know what I mean? ... Either way it's not cool, but I'd be less upset if it were a guy."

Ariana is currently preparing for the release of her new album My Everything on August 25th.

And this record has seen Ariana collaborate with some “unexpected” musicians.

On My Everything, Ariana teams up with stars including Iggy Azalea, Big Sean and A$AP Ferg.

“I feel like a lot of people were surprised by the collaborations, but I feel like I’ve always been a little unexpected with my collaborations,” Ariana told MTV News.
