Mariah Carey and Nick Cannon's rumoured split apparently stems from comments he made about past lovers.
Rumours the couple's relationship is on the rocks have been swirling for the past few weeks and TMZ is now claiming they actually broke up in May.
The website reports divorce lawyers have been negotiating a property settlement and custody agreement for the past few months and the divorce is "a done deal".
The pair are reportedly living apart and it's believed an incident in March is what kicked things off. Nick, 33, appeared on Big Boy's radio show that month and agreed to share the names of five celebrities he's slept with. Among them he mentioned Kim Kardashian, which is thought to have incensed 44-year-old Mariah.
It's believed arguments ensued and that their relationship "never recovered".
Later that month Nick appeared on Howard Stern's chat show, where he revealed Mariah made him wait for sex until after the wedding. It's believed these comments angered his superstar wife even further.
Mariah and the actor have three-year-old twins Moroccan and Monroe together and another factor is reportedly that the singer worries Nick spends too much time away from them because of work.
TMZ adds that Nick apparently can't handle the fact his wife is allegedly "surrounded by yes men".
The star has previously admitted his comments about past flames may have been inappropriate.
"'I thought I was being coy and cunning by naming someone or people that I actually was in a relationship with," he told Australian radio station 2Day FM. "The world knew these, these weren’t like names that, you know, I pulled out of a hat – these are people you’ve seen me on red carpets with, engaged, in love and all of that stuff, so wasn’t like it was new information.
"You know sometimes, as my wife says, sometimes I should just keep my big mouth shut."
Mariah and Nick met on the set of her music video for Bye Bye and married in 2008.
