Mariah Carey and Nick Cannon are reportedly living “separate lives”.
The couple married in April 2008 after a whirlwind romance but have been rocked by rumours their marriage is on the verge of ending in recent weeks.
Now sources tell US tabloid In Touch the pair are no longer living together after enduring “months of screaming fights”.
The purported insider told the outlet Nick has been residing at the Tribeca Grand Hotel in downtown Manhattan while the couple’s New York City home is being renovated.
Mariah is meanwhile said to be travelling between another Manhattan hotel and a friend’s home in upstate New York.
The pair are reportedly using the ongoing construction as an explanation for their time apart.
“It’s beyond the point of repair,” the insider claimed. “They’re like strangers now.”
A spokesperson for Nick declined to comment on the rumours, which follow just weeks after reports Mariah was seriously considering whether to end their marriage.
“Mariah’d cut him loose right now. But she’s worried about him making a grab for a huge chunk of her $515 million fortune,” one source told America’s OK! magazine back in May, noting her husband shares some of those feelings.
“Nick feels burned that Mariah is ready to pull the plug. They have a pre-nup, but after Nick tells his side of the story Mariah will most likely settle with him financially and realise her once beautiful marriage has evaporated.”
The couple share three-year-old fraternal twins, Moroccan and Monroe.
