Ariana Grande thinks her upcoming album is "a lot better" than her first effort.

The 21-year-old actress released her first record Yours Truly last year, with her second offering My Everything due out later this year. It includes the track Problem with Iggy Azalea, which picked her up the Choice Song by a Female Artist at yesterday's Teen Choice Awards. Ariana can't wait for her fans to hear the other tracks she's recorded.

"I'm very excited about this new album," she told ET Online. "I've never been more excited about anything in my whole life.

"I feel that it's a lot better than my first. I know that's kind of weird to say, but I'm just so excited about it that I can't help it."

Ariana found fame on Nickelodeon TV show Victorious and also starred in spinoff Sam & Cat. She's now making the tricky move from teen star to adult performer, much like Miley Cyrus has been trying to do over the last few years.

Ariana understands her fans need to get used to seeing her in a new light, but admits it can be tough. She feels people don't get that she is moving on with her life, especially as many feel they know her thanks to all the stories which are written about her.

"That's for damn sure!" she laughed, when it was commented that she isn't the person many expect her to be. "People have the weirdest perception of me but, you know, in time... [hopefully that will change].

"People [on social media] think they know me so well and it's the weirdest thing, I'm like, 'What are y'all talking about?'"
