Nicki Minaj says “nothing really surprises” her.

The Starships hitmaker debuted her single Anaconda this week. Nicki’s next album, The Pink Print, will be released later this year and reflect a new phase in her life.

“I just have to say that I’m at such a different place as a human being,” the rapper told Carson Daly on radio station 97.1 AMP.

“I know artists say that all the time but now I understand why. Nothing really surprises me anymore. I handle things more maturely. Just writing-wise I can put my thoughts together better I feel.”

The 31-year-old is proud of her newest album’s sound. She even had Drake listen to it.

“He was like, ‘Omg, you’re talking about new stuff, I’m so proud of you,’” the singer gushed. “I’m speaking about new things on this album. I’m excited I’m not allowing anyone else to define what the album is going to be.”

Baby Got Back performer Sir Mix-A-Lot was in contact with Nicki while she was recording Anaconda. The single uses lines from the 1992 hit.

“I don’t really know Nicki Minaj, but I can tell you this: Lazy, she is not,” Sir Mix-A-Lot told MTV News. “That girl works hard. I was blown away by her work ethic. She would hit us up, she’d be in the studio vibing, coming up with different ideas, making sure those ideas were cool. She’d call you back after a couple more hours.”

But despite being a part of the recording process, the Square-Dance Rap performer heard the finished product with the general public.

“Initially, it was more the music, and she was trying to weigh out a chorus,” he explained. “Next thing I knew, she was feeling good about it. And the ‘Anaconda’ version, I never heard until she was done.”
