Katy Perry doesn’t “need a dude”.

The Roar singer has been unlucky when it comes to love, with her marriage to British comedian Russell Brand ending in divorce in 2012 after 14 months and her on-off relationship with fellow singer John Mayer ending for good in March this year.

The 29-year-old would love to be a mum some day and even if she is still single when she feels the time is right, it won’t stop her.

“I want to be doing that in the right time. And that’s not in the next two years, you know?” she told Rolling Stone. “I don’t need a dude. It’s 2014! We are living in the future; we don’t need anything. I don’t think I’ll have to [try other means of having a baby], but we’ll see. I’m not anti-men. I love men. But there is an option if someone doesn’t present himself.”

Katy is currently in the middle of her Prismatic World Tour. While she loves being on the road and visiting lots of different countries, she knows it’s not a place for a baby.

“Maybe it’s in a five-year plan, but I need to really be able to focus 100 percent of my attention on it,” she continued. “I don’t really want to take the child on tour. Not until, like, birth through five is over.”

The Dark Horse singer adores her fans, nicknamed Katy-Cats, and is loving the chance to perform for them all over the world. However she admits she isn’t as full-on with her supporters as some other stars can be.

“I’m not, like, a crazy ‘I’m gonna die for my fans’ type,” she revealed. “Some people are so dramatic about it, and you’re like, ‘Honestly, you’re not the Second Coming. You’re just an entertainer!’… I’m very grateful for fans’ support, but I’m not thirsty or desperate.”
