Keith Urban fans behaved like soccer fans in Mansfield, MA on Monday night.

46 medical incidents, 50 people were taken into protective custody and fans arrested for alcohol charges. It sounds like an average evening at a metal show except, in this case, it was a Keith Urban concert.

Urban played the Xfinity Center in Mansfield, MA on Saturday night and, before it was over, police and ambulance were called in from a total of six towns, prompting authorities to brand the show a “mass casualty incident”.

Mansfield police and fire chiefs Ron Sellon and Neil Boldrighini issued a joint statement saying “Last evening’s Keith Urban concert was not anticipated to present with the volume of issues handled, but measures were in place to provide appropriate and adequate care and protection to all patrons. As a result, although there was a higher than expected volume, appropriate care was available through the expandable model.

“In total, Fire and EMS attended to 46 medicals resulting in 22 transports, mostly alcohol-related… Police dealt with a steady stream of intoxicated persons as well, resulting in over 50 people being taken into protective custody and a number of others arrested for alcohol-related issues.”

Along with the alcohol related incidents, a local paper reported that a 16-year-old boy with unspecified injuries was unresponsive and being treated.

Urban posted the following on YouTube after the show.
