Jennifer Hudson is still the same girl from Chicago despite her success.
The 32-year-old has received critical acclaim for her acting and her music, winning a Grammy for her debut album. She also received an Oscar, a Golden Globe, BAFTA and a Screen Actors Guild Award for her role in Dreamgirls. But Jennifer insists it hasn't changed who she is.
"I'm still the girl from Chicago but with all of those titles and with all of those titles comes a lot on your shoulders," she revealed to TV show Good Morning Britain. "There's a lot more pressure and people have very high expectations of you and for me, I've really just started, so just to try and relieve myself of those pressures [is important]."
Jennifer first came to the public's attention when she appeared on the third series of American Idol. But despite being eliminated in the 'Final Seven' week, she has gone on to have a fantastic career both on the big screen and in the charts.
"I started out singing first but I feel like acting chose me, versus me choosing it, but I hope I never have to choose between the two," she said.
When she isn't performing or filming, Jennifer spends as much time as possible with her four-year-old son David. Despite the comfortable lifestyle that her success has brought, Jennifer didn't want him to be spoilt.
"I wanted him to have a normal upbringing, I didn't want to bring him out on the road," she explained. "Right now he is at home with his dad, he goes to school and when I'm there I take him to school. He plays with his cousins and does normal things, for the most part he is like the only family member that is growing up completely different."
