Glee star Becca Tobin’s boyfriend has been found dead.
The 28-year-old actress had been in a long-term relationship with nightclub owner Matt Bendik, 35.
The pair had been travelling together when Matt’s body was found in a Philadelphia hotel room, according to TMZ.
There are few details about what has happened available at the moment, although it’s claimed Matt was in the city for business and Becca decided to go with him. The couple went out with friends for a celebratory evening on Wednesday, before going back to their hotel.
On Thursday afternoon Matt was discovered dead in the room by a maid.
The Philadelphia Medical Examiner has confirmed the entrepreneur has passed away, although no other details about the cause of his death have been revealed.
According to TMZ, although Matt ran some big nightspots in Los Angeles – he was co-owner of AV Nightclub – he wasn’t a big partier. Those close to him are said to be “shocked” by his death.
Becca portrays Kitty Wilde on Glee, about a group of students who love singing. She’s been on the show since 2012, making her debut in the fourth season premiere.
Becca has posted pictures of herself with Matt on social media, including a black and white image of her kissing his cheek, which she captioned simply with his surname.
The tragic event comes shortly before the first anniversary of Glee actor Cory Monteith’s death, which will be marked on Sunday July 13. He passed away in Vancouver last year after suffering an overdose of heroin and alcohol.
