Benedict Cumberbatch will make his first appearance at Comic-Con later this month.

The actor voiced Agent Classified in DreamWorks Animation’s forthcoming feature The Penguins of Madagascar.

And Variety reports he’ll be heading to the annual convention in San Diego, California on July 24 to promote the animated film, slated for US released this November.

DWA will be conducting a two-hour panel that morning.

According to the outlet, Ben may also stay in town for Warner Bros.’ promotion of The Hobbit: The Battle of the Five Armies.

The 37-year-old actor portrays The Necromancer in Peter Jackson’s fantasy film franchise, based on J.R.R. Tolkien’s classic fantasy novels.\

Benedict’s appearance will also follow on the heels of his Emmy nomination this week.

The star earned a nod in the outstanding lead actor in a miniseries or movie category for his work on US detective series Sherlock.

Comic-Con, scheduled for July 24-27, will once again be a star-studded event.

Jack Black is scheduled to appear on Columbia Pictures’ panel to discuss forthcoming film Goosebumps shortly after Ben.

Jeff Bridges will be around later in the day to talk about his latest film, The Giver, alongside director Phillip Noyce and co-stars Brenton Thwaites and Odeya Rush.

Batman fans will also have a chance to nerd out while attending a panel entitled Legends of the Dark Knight, featuring guests including Frank Miller, series writer Scott Snyder and artist Greg Capullo, as well as executives from DC Comics.
