Deacon Blue return with the much anticipated follow up to Top-20 album The Hipsters with their 7th studio album A New House released on 8th September through Rhino Records.

Following a hugely successful few years that have seen the band gain renewed interest from fans and critics alike, A New House is an album full of confidence, courage and rekindled passion for this second life that Deacon Blue has embarked upon. Filled with a sense of joy and forward-looking energy, it is an album which sounds distinctly at odds with the group’s veteran status. Far from harking back to past glories, the album is a collection of depth and passion on a par with modern greats such as Elbow and Coldplay.

The melodic and rhythmic energy of A New House comes together on the lead single and title track, one of many with thoughtful lyrics with a killer chorus on the album. “I remember driving out when we were kids to see a new house being built in the suburbs,” Ross says. “It was as if they were trying to contain the countryside, building roads and houses on it. But you can never quite contain it.”

Since the huge success of The Hipsters, Deacon Blue are back on the rise helped by three sell out UK tours (including triumphant shows at London’s Royal Albert Hall and a sell-out at Glasgow’s new 13,000 capacity arena The Hydro) and fantastic support from BBC Radio 2 who A-listed 4 singles from The Hipsters. The result is A New House an album which suggests renewed pride in the band and a reawakened sense of ambition.

The tour will take in homecoming shows in Scotland, the celebrated Hop Farm Festival and a date at London’s Royal Festival Hall.
