Aloe Blacc "doesn't pay attention" to the notion that his life has changed.

The 35-year-old singer has won over fans with catchy tracks such as The Man and I Need a Dollar, which have also earned him award nominations. Although things have taken off for Aloe, he insists the fame isn't important to him - despite what his spouse Maya Jupiter thinks.

He and the Australian rapper welcomed their first child, daughter Mandela, last September.

“My wife tells me things are different now, and I just don’t pay attention," he quipped to elle.com. "I’m just focused on other things. I’m a big believer in ‘let the song lead.’ The song matters. That’s all I’m gonna try to do: make songs that people enjoy. Whether they like me or not, it doesn’t matter.”

Aloe's teaming up with Swedish DJ Avicii for the track Wake Me Up proved a massive hit for the singer and was dubbed the summer anthem of 2013. The musician is pleased he managed to make a move into a new genre with the help of experts in the area.

"With Wake Me Up if I had tried to write to dance music, I don’t think it would have been a hit. But because it was me and [producer] Mike Einzinger, a guitar, and voice creating a song, and then Avicii remixing that, that made the difference. The production helped it reach a completely massive audience," he added.

“I always looked at Wake Me Up as a great way to introduce my voice and my songwriting. And since my name wasn’t on it, then I don’t have to be known as the Wake Me Up guy. But if you recognise the voice and you have a certain attraction to the songwriting, then maybe you’ll like some of the other stuff I’ve done.”
