AC/DC singer Brian Johnson has confirmed that founding member Malcolm Young has been hospitalised.

In an interview with Classic Rock Johnson confirmed that the guitarist is undergoing the best medical care. “We miss Malcolm obviously. He’s a fighter. He’s in hospital but he’s a fighter. We’ve got our fingers crossed that he’ll get strong again,” Brian said.

AC/DC announced the departure of Malcolm Young in April after tabloid gossip spread that the band had broken up. Johnson said the story was “rubbish”.

AC/DC have just wrapped up work on their 15th studio album in Vancouver, which Johnson said they considered calling “Man Down” in reference to Malcolm.

The Young’s nephew Stevie Young replaced Malcolm in the studio for the new album.
