Demi Lovato is supporting gay-rights in a new video.
The Disney star is proudly backing a campaign promoting marriage equality for the Human Rights Campaign, America’s largest civil-rights organisation.
The re-launch of the campaign designed to bring about equal rights for everybody across the nation is set to feature other celebs voicing their support for same-sex marriage.
“Let’s protect love and strengthen the institution of marriage by allowing loving, caring and committed same-sex couples to legally marry,” Demi says in the video.
“I believe that love comes in all different shapes, sizes and colours, so whether you are LGBT or straight, your love is valid, beautiful, and an incredible gift.”
The young singer also emailed the 1.5 million members of the HRC pleading for more Americans to become a part of the campaign.
In the video clip Demi encourages viewers to come together and support love regardless of gender.
“So let’s protect love and strengthen the institution of marriage by allowing loving, caring, and committed same sex couples to legally marry,” she said.
The actress is a dedicated supporter of the LGBT community and speaks openly about it on social media. “Gay, straight, lesbian, bi.. No one is better than any one else. What an incredible day for California AND for equality (sic),” tweeted the singer.
She also recently admitted her grandfather is gay.
“He was brave enough to come out in the 1960s, and I feel that a lot of my spirit has come from him. He passed away a few years later and I only wish he could have been able to see all the progress that has been made,” said Demi presenting an award to Orange is the New Black at Logo TV's Trailblazers event.
The 21-year-old was also a grand marshal at Los Angele’s gay-pride in June which also formed the setting for her latest music video, Really Don’t Care.
