Justin Bieber is to be charged with misdemeanour vandalism in relation to an egging incident.
The 20-year-old pop star has been accused of throwing the food at the home of his neighbour in Calabasas, California, earlier this year, causing $20,000 of damage.
There has been a lot of speculation about whether the singer would be charged with a felony over the incident, with the Los Angeles District Attorney now confirming a misdemeanour count will be filed today. It was thought he might be facing a stiffer charge due to the amount of damage caused to the property.
According to CNN Justin doesn’t have to be in court today, but it’s thought his lawyer will be at the hearing in Van Nuys, California, on his behalf.
At the moment the Canadian heartthrob’s representatives haven’t commented on the announcement, although it’s thought they will release a statement later today.
According to TMZ the arraignment will take place at 1.30pm local time, with the website also reporting that a deal has been arranged which will see Justin plead no contest. It’s suggested he will receive a year’s probation rather than jail time and will have to complete some community service. The star will also need to pay his former neighbour some kind of compensation.
Justin no longer lives at the property in question, having apparently sold it to Khloé Kardashian.
This isn’t the only legal case the young star is involved in. Earlier this year he was arrested for DUI while in Miami, with his team said to be working to agree a plea bargain.
