Miley Cyrus’ TV concert special reportedly “bombed” at the weekend.

The 21-year-old pop star gave viewers an up-close look at her worldwide trek with NBC’s Miley Cyrus: Bangerz Tour, which aired in the US on Sunday night.

But Entertainment Weekly reports the show only drew in approximately 2 million viewers, scoring a 0.7 rating in the 18-49 age bracket.

The outlet reports it marked a week showing for the network, with many others broadcasting reruns. Repeats of Family Guy and American Dad reportedly received about 2.5 million viewers each.

New episodes of reality shows Big Brother and Rising Star meanwhile raked in a respective viewership of 6 million and 4 million.

Miley spent last week promoting the NBC special, insisting in a series of tweets the show would be “fire”.

“my editing nbc special liewkkkkk… this [s**t] is lookin [fire]! Can't wait for yallz to c it July 6th (sic),” she captioned an Instagram photo of herself sticking her tongue out, using emoticons to express her excitement.

The star’s Bangerz Tour, which launched in February, has meanwhile been dogged by criticism surrounding its graphic content.

HitFix previously reported Miley defended herself after “outraged” parents petitioned to shut the tour down, concerned the former Disney star was sending the wrong message to her young fans.

“You can't say I didn't warn you. Now sit back relax & enjoy the show. #bangerztour,” the former Hannah Montana star tweeted earlier this year.

Miley insists she’s misunderstood, and simply wants to connect with others like herself.

“It’s hard being me, but it’s hard being them too. It’s hard being a normal person and different,” she said during a confessional moment in the special.

“The universe gives this responsibility to people who can handle it and I believe I can handle it,” she added.
