Ciara knew right away that her fiancé Future was different.

The 28-year-old R&B singer and her spouse welcomed their son, Future Zahir Wilburn, on May 19.

And when they began dating early last year, Ciara had a gut feeling the 30-year-old Move That Dope rapper was husband material.

"Our label put us together," the Goodies star recalled to Brides magazine. "I went into the studio strictly to work, but he was very calm and sweet, a gentleman…I knew right away that he was different. Now he's my best friend in the world, my partner."

Future proposed to his bride-to-be in New York City, where the couple was celebrating the I’m Out hitmaker’s birthday. The Pluto hip hop artist apparently had a show the night before.

“As soon as I woke up the next morning, it went down. It was so thoughtful -- the best birthday ever. I had no idea it was coming,” Ciara gushed.

The pair announced their engagement last October and they are expected to host their nuptials this fall. The event will be “indoors and black tie” and Ciara is thinking about a “black and white, classic and clean” colour scheme.

La La Anthony will serve as one of the bride’s two matrons of honour. There will also be five or six bridesmaids, all wearing the same colour but in different styles.

“I want my ladies to look amazing!" she exclaimed.

The big day won’t lack entertainment as a few of the couple’s friends will be singing and a “great” DJ will be present to provide “good old soul mixed with new stuff”.

“You want people to say, 'This is my jam!'" Ciara explained.

When the musicians marry, the songstress will become stepmother to beau Future’s 11-year-old son, who he shares with model Jessica Smith.
