Demi Lovato has slammed paparazzo's for being bullies.

The Neon Lights singer was snapped in New York yesterday swearing at photographers, after she alleged that they verbally abused her.

Taking to her Twitter account 21-year-old Demi couldn't help but vent her frustration at the escalated situation.

"When are paparazzi gonna learn? If you're respectful to me, I'll be respectful back. Why does it have to be a war of celebs against paps? (sic)," she fumed to her 22.9million followers.

"Of course if you yell horrible things, I'm not gonna work with you. I'll pose if you are respectful and not being bullies (sic)."

She went on to express her anguish over not being able to spend time with her fans, who flocked to see her at Logo's Trailblazers event.

"I wanted to stop for my fans today/tonight really bad because I love you so much but I can't deal with how mean those paps are...

"I always try to stop because I appreciate every single one of you, so if I don't get to you please know I'm sorry and I love you.

"Sometimes staying strong means not putting yourself in uncomfortable or triggering situations. (sic)," she added.

Demi has also been talking recently about how she likes to surround herself with inspiring people. She's had a highly publicised battle with bulimia and self injury, which she's also spoken candidly about in the past.

"I like to have friends in my life who believe they’re going places and are working toward their dreams,” she revealed to Seventeen magazine. “When you’re growing and the people around you aren’t, that’s when you have to start shedding them. I’ve done that a lot over the past few years, but it has been so worth it, because the people in my life today inspire me to keep being creative, to have fun, and to be a good person.”
