On the 25th of June, Channel 4 present a brand new documentary series exploring the cultural phenomenon of the Superstar DJ, hosted by one of modern dance music’s most influential authorities, broadcaster and DJ Annie Mac.
Together with JJ Stereo and the backing of Channel 4 & Ford, Annie will set out to explore the meteoric rise of five of the most successful DJs of our time. Ms Annie Mac explains, “In 2014 dance music has never been so omnipresent in popular culture, and the DJs at the epicentre of it have never been more revered. I think it's very important that we represented the full spectrum of dance music today, thus we have the godfather of EDM Tiesto, the American music entrepreneur Diplo, the underground warrior Seth Troxler, the National treasure Fatboy Slim and the absolute men of the moment Disclosure.”
Annie enjoys never seen before access in a fly-on-the-wall style insight into what it takes for these DJs to live life on the road, the pressure they’re under on a nightly basis playing to tens of thousands of people, the moments of delirium from constant globe trotting and most importantly, the music that comes from them, be it from behind the decks or the studio.
A series of 6 x 30 minute documentaries with superstar DJs Tiesto, Seth Troxler, Disclosure, Fat Boy Slim & Diplo and a special episode covering DJ culture from past, present and future.
