Sarah Brightman, the actress/singer who came to fame as the original lead in Phantom of the Opera, has been forced to cancel a series of U.S. dates after breaking her ankle.

Brightman posted the following on her official web site:

I have suffered a hairline fracture to my ankle and have been advised by my doctors to rest it until September by which time it will have fully recovered. I have, regrettably, taken the decision to cancel my forthcoming U.S. dates in August. I apologize for any disappointment caused. Sarah Brightman
Brightman had dates scheduled for Los Angeles, Peso Robles, Santa Barbara, The Woodlands, Raleigh, Boston, Atlantic City, Newark and Hammond, IL in the U.S. and Windsor and Rama, ON in Canada.

While in the U.S., Brightman is mainly known for Phantom and concert performances, she has had six top ten records in her native U.K. including I Lost My Heart to a Starship Trooper (with Hot Gossip, 1978 / #6), Pie Jesu (with Paul Miles-Kingston, 1985 / #3), All I Ask of You (with Cliff Richard, 1986 / #3), The Phantom of the Opera (1986 / #7), The Music of the Night (with Michael Crawford, 1986 / #7) and Time to Say Goodbye (with Andrea Bocelli, 1996 / #2).
