Miley Cyrus wants people to lay off Justin Bieber.

The stars are two of the biggest names in music and have both had their fair share of trouble over the last through years.

Miley, 21, shed her squeaky clean Disney image for a raunchier grown up look and faced a media backlash for her racy costumes and on stage antics. Likewise Justin, 20, has faced public criticism for his recent bad boy behaviour which includes reportedly pelting a neighbour’s house with eggs and being arrested for DUI, resisting arrest and driving without a valid licence.

“I think people should have time to grow up and figure out who they are,” Miley said about her fellow pop star to Richard Wilkins on the Today Show

“I think people need to sit and think of the times in their lives they were not proud of who they were.

“Imagine if that was completely exploited and everyone had their opinions.”

Justin hit the headlines last month when videos of the Canadian star telling racist jokes emerged. The footage was shot when Justin was younger, but fans were unimpressed with his choice of humour.

Despite the incident Miley believes everyone is entitled to share their views online, including celebrities.

“Social media is such a blessing. Everyone is allowed have an opinion,” she insisted.

The conversation had lighter moments too, with Miley recounting stories from her Bangerz tour.

The blonde star recalled a moment when one of her DJs couldn’t make a show, so a technician had to stand in for him.

“One of the lightning guys just went out there and DJ'd. He pretended to have two security guards which were just two other lighting guys dressed in suits,” she laughed.
