Jennifer Lopez reportedly did not trust boyfriend Casper Smart.
The singer and former back up dancer have apparently split in the wake of allegations that Casper was sending raunchy text messages to a transsexual model.
Although there are rumours the pair had been broken up months ago, new reports indicate Casper only found out on Thursday night the relationship was over.
"Whether there is any truth to what is being reported or not, it's irrelevant. Jennifer did not trust him," a source told E! News. "The relationship had not been right for a while. Smart was never going to be the love of her life, but he was fun and a nice guy to be around. It stopped being fun once his friendships with other people started to come to light."
While Jennifer was apparently never planning on taking the relationship to the next level, Casper was said to be the perfect boyfriend after her split from Marc Anthony.
The 26-year-old reportedly made the singer happy, and they are planning on maintaining a friendship.
"Smart was a good distraction post-Marc [Anthony]. He was good to her. He was meant to be easy and fun, and when that was gone, she didn't want to be in the relationship anymore. There is no one else. They will remain friends,” the source added.
Jennifer has spoken out previously about getting married again, saying it was unlikely. The 44-year-old insisted the most important thing to her was being in love.
“I always believe in that institution, my parents were married for a very long time, they were married for 35 years. I believe in it, it's difficult. I've had my challenges but at the same time I believe in love and I think that that's the main thing,” she told E! in January.
