Carrie Underwood says kissing has a “calming effect” on her.

The 31-year-old Blown Away singer is married to professional hockey player Mike Fisher.

And Carrie admits she often relies on the support of her husband to soothe her when she is feeling anxious.

"If I'm nervous, he'll be like, 'C'mon, you have nothing to be nervous about. Just go do what you do and take a deep breath and say a little prayer and you're good to go.' Just being able to get a little kiss and go about my way, it definitely has a calming effect,” she explained to People magazine.

The star was accompanied at the CMT Awards on Wednesday by her other half. A lot of her awards ceremonies take place during his playing season so Carrie was elated to have Mike by her side on the red carpet for once.

"It's nice to have a little man candy on my arm!" she gushed. "He's my most awesome accessory."

Despite their hectic schedules, Carrie and Mike make it a point to spend time together. The lovebirds enjoyed a romantic holiday with each other last February.

“We actually went away a few months ago to Turks and Caicos for the Olympic break for a week or ten days,” Mike told Us Weekly recently. “It was just awesome. It was nice to get away.”

Carrie, a six-time Grammy winner, is currently penning new music for her sixth studio album.

She has been married to NHL athlete Mike since 2010, two years after they met at one of her concerts.
