John Legend thinks name -dropping is "tacky".

The singer is married to Sports Illustrated model Chrissy Teigen and has a whole host of famous friends. However, he doesn't like people who show off about their A-list connections.

"Name-dropping," he promptly answered when asked by British newspaper Daily Star about his pet hate.

"In my business, people who do it a lot. There’s a classy way to do it, and there’s a tacky way to do it – you should be subtle about it."

The 35-year-old has produced four albums, the latest being Love in the Future, which spawned smash hit single All of Me.

He started off singing in bands, but enjoyed the limelight too much to continue in a group.

"I was in a vocal group at high school called Shades of Colour, who were like Boyz II Men. At college, I was in an a cappella group. Since I graduated, I’ve always been solo – I like the attention too much to share!" he laughed.

John proposed to Chrissy, 28, in 2011 after six years of dating and they married in Italy last year. He revealed that he would pick her if he had to be stranded on a desert island with anyone and also gave an insight into their married life.

"It has lots of my wife’s products in there," he answered when asked what their bathroom looks like. "She has every type of facial cleanser and cream known to man. I have a tiny little corner by comparison."

He also divulged that the post-Oscars Vanity Fair party is the best event the pair have been to as a couple.
