will.i.am is unsure what the future holds for The Black Eyed Peas.

The eccentric performer-and-producer came to prominence thanks to the chart topping group, who brought a new sound to the industry.

While they haven't released new music since their 2010 album The Beginning, the band are still active. But will says they'll only release fresh material if it's like nothing anyone's done before.

"We’re doing some configuration as far as what do we do as the Peas next," will told Capital FM.

"In 2008 I was like, ‘Guys, electro music is friggin’ sick’! And most of them were like, ‘What are you talking about, electro?'

"'There’s this guy called David Guetta and there’s like this underworld, we should do songs like that.'"

While The Black Eyed Peas have been on a break, will has become a prominent figure on TV thanks to his judging roles on both the UK and Australian version of The Voice.

He also took on the job of Cheryl Cole's manager when the Brit star launched her career in America, which included her doomed stint on the US version of The X Factor.

Although he's one of the busiest men in showbiz, will always has time to thrash out some new ideas for The Black Eyed Peas, whose members include Fergie, apl.de.ap and Taboo.

"Now we have to do something that no-one’s thought of, so you’re thinking like, ‘The Black Eyed Peas are what?’ If it doesn’t spark that conversation, then there's no point," he explained.
