Beyoncé Knowles and Jay Z have reportedly sought the advice of Gwyneth Paltrow and Chris Martin.

The music power couple hit the headlines last month when leaked footage of Beyoncé's sister Solange attacking Jay in an elevator surfaced. The incident has apparently raised questions between the couple, who are said to be keen to work through their problems and get their union back on track.

"They've been seeking marriage guidance, as well as advice from pals including Gwyneth Paltrow and Chris Martin, who took the same step and lived apart when their marriage was in crisis, to get some much-needed breathing space," a source revealed to British magazine Grazia.

Beyoncé and Jay said their vows in 2008, and are proud parents to two-year-old daughter Blue Ivy.

While they are currently spending time apart, the couple are still in constant contact with each other.

"Beyoncé is at their home in Scarsdale, New York, while Jay is staying at their apartment in Manhattan's TriBeCa. He's been spending time in the Hamptons too," the insider added.

"The idea is that this space is helping both of them deal with their issues and re-evaluate what they want from their marriage. They've made no secret of the fact they're living apart and are still seeing each other regularly."

They've also allegedly visited a marriage retreat in New York, run by Chris Rosenthal. The therapist has previously coached Catherine Zeta-Jones and Michael Douglas, who used their time apart to successfully rebuild their marriage.

Beyoncé and Jay Z's recent no show at Kim Kardashian and Kanye West's wedding also got people talking, as many believed that Jay would act as best man. Their lack of attendance was reportedly down to Beyoncé, who is said to be sick of people dissecting her relationship.

"Beyoncé is desperate for things to calm down and for people to stop talking about her marriage problems. Attending this wedding was only going to give it more oxygen and she couldn't bear it," a second insider said.
